The Indian art community gears up for the Mumbai Gallery Weekend - a veritable paradise for collectors and connoisseurs
Mumbai Gallery Weekend began in 2012 with a view of bridging the gap between art connoisseurs, enthusiasts, and collectors; and Mumbai’s contemporary art galleries and cultural institutions. This year’s edition starts today, January 31 and continues through to February 4. A total of 31 art spaces - including Akara Art, Bhau Daji Lab Museum, and the DAG Modern - will co-host the event, showcasing works by more than 60 artists.

Expect the works of greats like MF Hussain, SH Raza, and contemporary artists like Jitish Kallat, and Thukral & Tagra. Also being showcased are up and coming artists whose work the Mumbai Gallery Weekend seeks to provide a platform for exposure.

To make the experience truly immersive, various talks will be held across different venues. Do a walkthrough with artist Ravikumar Tashi at the Sakshi Gallery or attend a talk between Cecilia Morelli, Samuel Barclay, and Anne Geenen on design, architecture, retail, and art, which will be moderated by Harper’s Bazaar India’s editor Nonita Kalra.
